The WorkFlow Designer has an option to enable the use of Visio to design processes. The images below shows the Microsoft Visio design interface. The concepts on how to add, edit or delete activities are the same in the non-Visio environment.

Creating a New Activity

  1. In the Server Explorer, click on the Process Explorer category.

  2. Double-click on the Process in which you want to create the new Activity. This will open the process' document window in the main work area.

  3. In the Toolbox, make sure you are in the Visio Designer category.

  4. Drag a Task from the toolbox to the main work area.

  5. Once the new activity is in the main work area, the Activity Configuration Wizard automatically opens.

  6. In the Activity Configuration Wizard configure the properties for your new activity in the General Tab and click OK.

  7. Click on the Save icon from the quick access toolbar; or press Ctrl + S on your keyboard to save the activity.

Note: An asterisk (*) will appear on the tab of the document window to show you that there is unsaved information. After saving, the asterisk (*) will disappear.

  1. Alternatively, In the Properties window, configure the properties for your new activity.

  2. In the Properties window, click in the Event Create property of the activity.

  3. Specify the creation rules and click on OK.

  4. Click on the Save icon from the quick access toolbar; or press Ctrl + S on your keyboard to save the activity.

Note: An asterisk (*) will appear on the tab of the document window to show you that there is unsaved information. After saving, the asterisk (*) will disappear

Deleting an Activity

You can delete an activity by following exactly the same steps that you do when deleting anything else.

  1. In the Server Explorer, click on the Process Explorer category.

  2. Double-click on the Process containing the Activity you want to delete. This will open the process' document window in the main work area.

  3. In the process' document window, select the activity you want to delete.

  4. Click on the Delete icon from the quick access toolbar; or press Ctrl + D on your keyboard to delete the activity.

  5. When prompted, click on OK.

  6. Click on the Save icon from the quick access toolbar; or press Ctrl + S on your keyboard to save the activity.

Note: An asterisk (*) will appear on the tab of the document window to show you that there is unsaved information. After saving, the asterisk (*) will disappear.

Editing an Existing Activity

At any stage you want to, you can change the details of an activity. Follow the same steps you followed when you edited anything else.

  1. In the Server Explorer, click on the Process Explorer category.

  2. Double-click on the Process to which the Activity you want to edit belongs. This will open the process' document window in the main work area.

  3. In the process' document window, select the activity you want to edit.

  4. Make the desired changes in the Properties window.

  5. Click on the Save icon from the quick access toolbar; or press Ctrl + S on your keyboard to save the activity.

Note: An asterisk (*) will appear on the tab of the document window to show you that there is unsaved information. After saving, the asterisk (*) will disappear.

Click on the options button () in this property to open the Specify Creation Rules window.
